The Reclassify a Position: General section is divided into the following subsections:

General Information
- The position type is displayed.

Job Code Information
The Current subsection lists information about the existing position:
- Job Code/Title – The job code is the four-digit number derived from the Job Code system and assigned to a specific university job title. The job title is acquired from the job code in the Pay Plan.
- FLSA Status – The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938 applies when an employee is on leave without pay (LWOP) and has FMLA coverage due to a Workers' Compensation Insurance injury. The act also requires that covered non-exempt workers receive overtime pay at 1.5 times the employee's regular pay rate for all hours worked over 40 hours in a seven-day workweek. In addition, employees must be paid at least the federal minimum wage.
- EEO-6 Code – The numeric code assigned to each job title based on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) job group definitions.
- Hours per week – Total work hours required each week for a position. (See work week.)
The Proposed subsection lists identical attributes for the reclassified position and includes the following information:
- Benefits Eligible – A position that requires more than 20 hours of work per week and spans more than 134 days, thus making it eligible for health insurance, paid leave, etc.

Schedule
This section displays information on the position's work schedule:
- Work Hours – Select the work hours option. If you choose standard or flexible, use the drop-down menus to enter appropriate times.
- Workdays – The drop-down menu displays the work schedule options for the position.
- Recurring – Designated when the position is created, this attribute identifies the begin and end dates that an incumbent may be assigned to the position throughout each yearly cycle. (Click here for more information.)

Position Information
Check the box if this is a Position of Special Trust.
The position's effective date and duration are displayed along with posting information.

Location
Information, presented in editable fields, is grouped by primary and secondary administrative locations:
- Building Code – Building where the position is located. Click here for UT Austin campus buildings and codes.
- Floor – Building floor where the position is located.
- Room – Room within the building where the position is located.
- Phone – Phone number assigned to a position; defaults to department system information. (See Cell phone)
- Mail Code – Mail code for the position; defaults to department system information. Click for a listing of UT Austin mail codes.
- Fax – Fax number assigned to a position; default is the department number.
- Pager – Phone number of pager assigned to a position.
- Work Location – Select the position’s work location from the drop-down menu. If you select Out of State, indicate the state or country (if not the United States) where the position will be located. Use the lookups to select the correct abbreviations.

Reporting Structure
Information is provided for these items:
- Department – Includes the unit code and name of the department.
- Reports to position ID – Both the Reports to position ID and title are displayed, as are the following particulars:
- Reports to incumbent's name
- E-mail address
- Phone number
- Secondary reports to position ID – Position ID and title of secondary Reports to position, if any.

General Position Notes
- If you wish, provide notes related to the position.
Buttons located at the bottom of the page allow you to take one of three actions:
- Reset clears all fields; any unsaved work will be lost.
- Save & Verify saves your work and alerts you to any errors or missing information on the page. You can fix the errors now or click Save & Continue and fix them later.
- Save & Continue saves your current work. You can go on to the next section, Reclassify a Position: Salary & Funding, or resume work on the document at a later time.
NOTE: Any errors identified by HRMS when you Save & Continue will be carried forward, but they must be corrected when you reach the Document Review section. The system will notify you of error messages and prompt you to correct them after you click Save & Verify.
