Information related to the position’s attributes is presented in the Assign an Incumbent: General section. This section can be accessed by clicking General in the document navigation on the left side of the page.
Document summary information and a link that enables you to change your desk/view appear just below the page header. To review position attributes, click the View Position Details link for the position ID displayed.
The Assign an Incumbent: General page allows you to change certain position attirbutes, and is divided into the following sub-sections:

Job Information
- Job Code/Title – HRMS displays the four-digit number derived from the Job Code System as well as the title associated with the job code in the Pay Plan.
- Origination Date – The date the position is available to be filled for the first time—recognized as the date the “box” shows up on the organizational chart.
- Status – Displays the position's status as active.
- Owning Unit Code – The 7-digit code of the position's department is displayed. To change the owning unit, enter the new unit code and an effective date for the change.
- Hours Per Week – The field is auto-filled with the hours chosen at the position's creation, but can be changed if needed. Enter an effective date for the change.
- Position End Date – The date the position is to end is displayed. Use the calendar lookup to change this date, providing a reason from the drop-down menu. Note: Ending a position removes the position from the organization chart.

The position ID is displayed.

Privileges
Check the box(es) that apply. Privilege codes refer to entitlements extended to university affiliates according to their role at the university. (See the glossary for more information.)
Buttons located at the bottom of the section allow you to take these actions:
- Save saves your work and identifies errors or warnings on the page.
- Save & Finish saves your work and directs you to the Document Review page.
